Methodology

The Trust Score: same math for everyone.

Every business is scored out of 100 from six signals, and we check the data against Google’s live records. No paid boosts, no editorial thumbs on the scale — just the method below, applied identically to all 0 businesses.

Example: a verified local business
Verified company
Review volume 23 / 27
Review quality 18 / 18
Profile completeness 18 / 18
Contact clarity 14 / 14
Local presence 13 / 13
Claimed and verified profile 10 / 10

The six factors

100 points total, from five signals checked against Google’s live data plus our own company verification. The same formula runs for every business — here’s what it rewards.

Review volume

27 pts

The review count on the public Google profile, on a scale with diminishing returns. A 4.9 with 300 reviews beats a 5.0 with 6 — volume proves consistency over time.

Review quality

18 pts

The average star rating. Consistently excellent ratings earn full marks, middling ones earn less, and a bad reputation costs real points. No rating yet scores a neutral middle — not punished, not rewarded.

Profile completeness

18 pts

One point for every photo the profile shows, up to 8, plus 10 for opening hours. An unclaimed listing only displays two photos, so claiming it and adding your own is the quickest way to earn this.

Contact clarity

14 pts

Website, phone, and email. The more complete and reachable the contact details, the more of the 14 you earn.

Local presence

13 pts

A real, verifiable Grande Prairie location earns the full 13; partial or unverifiable addresses earn less.

Claimed and verified profile

10 pts

The business has claimed its listing, confirming it through the email on its profile, or we have claimed it on their behalf. Claiming is what verifies a listing. It earns these 10 points, and it cannot lift a weak profile to the top on its own.

What can lower a score

Three integrity checks run on top of the six factors.

No Google profile

No public Google Business Profile at all — we can verify nothing, so the score takes a major hit.

Out of town

A real profile, but Google says it’s based outside the area we cover — Grande Prairie, Clairmont, Sexsmith, Wembley, Beaverlodge, Hythe and the County of Grande Prairie. We flag it (amber badge) instead of pretending it’s local, and the score reflects it.

Stale data

The listing no longer matches Google’s live records — a name, address, or phone mismatch. Fix the profile, or correct the listing, and the penalty lifts.

What a score means

90–100
Exceptional

Top of category — strong on reviews, profile, and contact details.

75–89
Strong

Reliably good; usually a thin profile or fewer reviews.

60–74
Fair

Listed but with gaps — check details before you call.

< 60 ⚠
Caution

Major gaps or an unverified profile (e.g. no confirmable address or out-of-town) — flagged and ranked last.

What the badges mean

Every Sunday we re-pull each business’s live Google Business Profile and compare it to what we publish. The badge on a profile card tells you exactly what we can prove — and we only ever show what we can prove.

✓ Verified

The business has claimed its listing and confirmed it through the email on its profile. Worth 10 Trust Score points.

Popular on Socials

Our team tracks social media mentions by hand and adds this label to businesses people talk about often. It sits beside the verification badge and doesn’t change the Trust Score.

Based in Edmonton — not Grande Prairie

The business has a real Google profile, but it’s based outside the area we cover (Grande Prairie, Clairmont, Sexsmith, Wembley, Beaverlodge, Hythe and the County of Grande Prairie). We flag it instead of pretending it’s local.

Address not independently verified

We can’t yet confirm the address against Google’s data. Not an accusation — an honest “unconfirmed” until it checks out.

Permanently closed

Google’s data shows the business is closed. It’s excluded from rankings and flagged for removal.

Met & Vetted is not a Trust Score

The Trust Score is arithmetic: the same six factors, from public data, for every business. Met & Vetted is something else. It is our own endorsement.

Met & Vetted ✓
What it means
We have checked that this business is real, by talking with them or with people who have used their services, and Grande Prairie’s Best puts its name behind it.
What it doesn’t do
It adds no points to a Trust Score and takes none away, and it doesn’t move a business up the rankings. A business can score highly without it, and can carry it with a modest score.
Where you’ll see it
On the business’s profile and beside its name on category pages.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • Scores can’t be bought. There is no paid tier that changes a score or a ranking. Ever.

  • Claiming is free and just lets owners add photos, hours, and corrections. The same points are available to every business.

  • Scores update weekly — we re-sync Google’s data every Sunday — or within 2 business days of a claimed correction.

  • Disputes are public-data arguments. Show us the public record is wrong and we fix it — contact us.
